Heart of the Staff: The Complete Series Blurb
Minuet Dewin, eldest daughter of the wizard Razzmorten, practically raised her half sister Leeuh. For many years, Minuet is Leeuh’s passionate champion. As time passes, Leeuh grows awful and impossible to defend. Whilst undoing her dangerous pranks, Minuet finds herself the target of her hatred and jealousy. And when they fall for the same prince, it looks like war.
Suddenly Leeuh vanishes. She returns years later, compliant and sweet as she always should have been. Should Minuet trust her, or will it be the very death of her?
Frantic to find out if she really is the daughter of an evil sorceress, Rose makes a rash departure on a quest to the Chokewoods, a forest of horrors which no one in her kingdom dares enter.
Her brother Lukus blackmails her into traveling with him. Together they discover that trolls, Elves and cyclopses really do exist as do the perilous visions in the Valley of Illusions.
In the Chokewoods, they survive a horde of flesh eating devils, the fruit of the choke oak and a village of beasts who prepare to eat them. A hag crashes through the treetops and takes them away to a mad forest of her own where she turns them into thralls and taunts them with threats before they manage to escape and return home.
A great evil awakens to shatter Niarg’s peaceful world.
In her remote island keep off the shores of Head, the fearsome sorceress Demonica at last learns that her granddaughter Spitemorta has come by the long lost Staff of Power.
She leaves immediately for Goll and offers to teach Spitemorta how to develop her considerable powers. Spitemorta accepts at once, thereby uniting the two most dangerous sorceresses of the age, determined to conquer the world. When they find the Stone Heart, making the Staff the most powerful tool of all time, it seems that nothing can stop them from crushing Niarg and conquering the entire world. King Hebraun of Niarg is dead and not a single Elf is left alive in the Jutwoods.
Spitemorta’s husband, King James, tries to ride out of Castle Goll with her Great Staff of Power, but is tortured by Demonica and her and locked away to die in the the dungeon. He escapes across the Great Barrier Mountains, just as Spitemorta and Demonica destroy Castle Niarg, sending Queen Minuet and Wizard Razzmorten and the people of Niarg fleeing to the Pitmaster’s Kettles.
Niarg has fallen. The dragons have fled from their caves. Confident that Queen Minuet and Wizard Razzmorten are dead, and that the trolls have eaten every last Elf, Spitemorta brings down the last hamlets of the Northern Continent as she prepares to conquer the rest of the world.
But Queen Minuet and Wizard Razzmorten do live and are hiding in the crater of Mount Bedd with the Fairy guardians of the Forest Primeval, where they wait for what remains of their army before fleeing to the Black Desert to live beneath its burning sands with the dragons and all of the Elves who escaped Demonica’s great troll raid, down their hidden river.
With the murder of her husband, King Artamus of Gwael, Queen Spitemorta at last rules the world. She declares herself Omnipotent Empress and moves into her monstrous new castle in Niarg. And with her tools of power, the Great Staff and Crystal Heart, she believes she is invincible.
But then come tidings that four Elves have appeared in Niarg. These Elves should have been killed and eaten by her trolls, twenty years ago. And with these Elves returns the threat that the ancient Elven Prophecy predicting her downfall and death could still come to pass.
And somewhere far away, Ariel and Daniel, the very twins foretold in the Prophecy have become more powerful than any sorceress or wizard ever known. Together they could be invincible.
But can they destroy Spitemorta and her great tools of power? The time has come and one thing is certain. Either the twins and the rebellion will meet their doom, or Spitemorta and her minions will.
Due to file size limitations on Amazon we were unable to include any appendices with The heart of the Staff: The Complete Series boxed set other than a limited archaic and foreign words appendix. To resolve this omission, we have decided to publish the complete appendix as a separte volume. Unfortunately, again, due to Amazon policies, we will not be able to immediately offer this volume as a Free download, so it will temporarily priced at $.99. You can circumvent this charge, however, simply by downloading the appendix from Smashwords where it will be listed as Free from the outset, as they have no such restrictions. We will endeavor to get the price to Free on Amazon as soon as we possilby can.
The companion book, The Heart of the Staff: Complete Appendix will be AVAILABLE SOON on Amazon

Hello and thanks for stopping by! I would like to thank my host for today for letting me invade their space. And a big thanks also to 4Wills Publishing for setting up this blog tour for me. For my previous tour stops, please check out the 4Wills current events page.
I am so excited to be able to share my book trailer video with you today for my latest book, Finding Katie.
Kate has to stop the voice in her head. The one that persecutes her all the time. Tells her how useless she is. She’s jittery and jumpy, and has been in hospital for too long already. She has to do something to quieten the beast.
Excerpt from Chapter Four:
I don’t pay that much attention when Suzy lifts the first stitch with the tweezers and cuts it with the blunt-ended scissors. It only tugs a little bit, and the slight sting isn’t worth a mention.
I do look away from my phone screen when Suzy tuts. ‘Oh.’ She shakes her head.
My arm bleeds. Not much, but more than it should at this stage. I’ve done all this loads by now, so it’s nothing new. I probably know more about it than the student.
All she has to do is shove some adhesive strips over it and slap a dressing on top. No way am I telling her that though.
‘Oh my god!’ I shriek, instead. It’s hard work to hide my glee.
The panic lights up her face and brings me joy. ‘It’s okay,’ she says. ‘I’ll go get Sandra. Be right back.’
My favourite words in the universe. Those scissors have had my attention for the last little while. As soon as she leaves, I grab for them. Not my tool of choice, of course. Especially with that blunt end. But the edges are sharp enough. I just have to pry them open … and … slice.
I killed someone, you see. I killed the girl, who used to be me.
I’m Kate … Kate Charlesworth. I’m seventeen, and self-harming. This time I cut too deep, and I’m in hospital. I hadn’t meant for it to be so bad—it just sort of happened. I needed a lot of distraction that day.
You’ve had bad days, right? Days it hurts too much to think. Days you just wanna stay in bed. Days when the world needs to go away for a while. Right?
What do you do when you’ve hit rock bottom? When there’s nowhere left to turn?
This one little mistake lands me back on a psych unit—the last place I wanna be. Only this time, the nurse I end up with isn’t content to stick on a band-aid and send me home. She wants me to face my demons. But to do that, I’ll have to face who I am … who I used to be … I’ll have to find Katie.
Harmony Kent is famous for her laughter, and has made quite the name for herself … she’s also, um, a writer … and fairly well known for that too. She lives in rural Cornwall with her ever-present sense of humour and quirky neighbours. She is single and not admitting to her age.
Here are ten things she thinks you ought to know about her …
Born in 2013 (at least the author was …)
- Really boring
- Has absolutely no sense of humour
- Biographer is a compulsive liar
- Reads … a lot
- Writes … even more
- Completely sane(in)
- Neighbours are nuts
- If you’re feeling extra brave she’s around
- Online …

Will O’ the Wisp Research
Will O’ the Wisp is the newest release from C. S. Boyack. It involves a mildly handicapped girl facing a mysterious threat. The wisp has been killing off Patty Hall’s family for generations, and she’s next on the list. It is suitable for young adult readers.
All stories involve some kind of research. I set this story in 1974, because I wanted Patty to use her wits, and display a bit of patience in revealing this story. Suspense is a great story technique, and having high speed internet would have spoiled some of the fun.
1974 threw down the first research challenge. I was around in ’74, but memories fade over time, and I had to verify my details. Patty’s home town has an International Harvester dealership, there’s a Montgomery Wards catalog store too. Greyhound Busses make an appearance in the story, along with the early microwave ovens.
Some of these things are still with us, but they had a different nuance back then. A microwave oven was looked at as a modern miracle. Pay telephones were the order of the day in an era before cellular. I even researched the baseball playoffs and incorporated them into the story. Who can forget Catfish Hunter?
This is a paranormal story. I had to research the American colonies, and discovered an old system of land grants called hundreds. These were basically 100 acre grants for forming new colonies.
The Will O’ the Wisp is a very rare natural phenomenon. Modern science still doesn’t know exactly what they are, but they’ve been reported all over the world and in almost every culture. They are associated with swamps, old cemeteries, and earthquakes. I even found one, and only one, video of them appearing right before a Canadian earthquake.
It’s hard to research something so rare. Theories abound as to swamp gasses that ignite, to a plasma phase of some rare element, to tectonic plate friction. As humans drain swamps, and fill in marsh lands they are becoming even more rare worldwide.
Legends from all over the world involve ignis fatuus, Jack o’ lantern, fairy lights, and more. The legend usually involves some evil spirit leading a traveller to his or her doom.
In my mind, it was witchcraft. It ties in with colonial America, makes a great curse, and sets the stage for Patty’s adventure. Salem, Massachusetts seems like the logical place to set this tale, but that’s been done before. I learned that most of the colonies have records of witchcraft in one form or another. I set my story in Virginia.
Patty goes on quite the adventure, and I’m very happy with this book. I hope you’ll give it a chance.

I was born in a town called Elko, Nevada. I like to tell everyone I was born in a small town in the 1940s. I’m not quite that old, but Elko has always been a little behind the times. This gives me a unique perspective of earlier times, and other ways of getting by. Some of this bleeds through into my fiction.
I moved to Idaho right after the turn of the century, and never looked back. My writing career was born here, with access to other writers and critique groups I jumped in with both feet.
I like to write about things that have something unusual. My works are in the realm of science fiction, paranormal, and fantasy. The goal is to entertain you for a few hours. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Deep in the desert of the Middle East, Adela flashed up to a grand door of a great palace. It was about three hours after dusk, and the wind was blowing a light sand blanketof silk, covering any and all tracks on the sandy floor of the moon-lit desert. The oversized door creaked open, revealing massive guards with swords on their hips. Adela was greeted by a beautiful, little creature, in her late teens, with dark, toned, silky skin, and dark, haunting brown eyes. The slender, athletic body was clad in robes made of the finest materials that revealed every curve without actually showing the flesh below.Another young woman with blonde hair, blue eyes, and also small, athletic body took Adela by the hand. Adela could smell that both of these two were human girls, but this was not unusual for this king of the desert.
The girls guided Adela to a door, and as the door opened, the smell of sex and essence filled the air. Adela shook her head, his appetite for lust was never quenched, and he always wanted more. The room had lavish loveseats and couches all about, and plush pillows were tossed all about on the floor. At the end of the room, a man draped in gold and a lavish robe, sat upon a throne of gold, and on both sides were two women with their chests exposed for the world to see. In his left hand was a golden staff that was filled with gems.
He motioned for her to come towards him. As she approached, she bowed her head as he also returned in respect. One of his guards forcefully grabbed her by the shoulder and tried to force her to her knees, not even a hair could he budge of her.
Fahim sat silently, looking irritated, tapping his fingers and thumb on the top of the staff. Not a breath was breathed throughout the entire room, except for Adela; she was the only one that felt sure of what was to come. Fahim’s men hung their heads in fear of what was to come.
Adela knew full well that men in this area of the world did not take kindly to a woman showing power and defiance, but then again, she was now the Queen of the Night. She knew this coven was going to be the hardest to swing her way, but would most likely make the rest fall in line.
A clacking snap of his fangs to gain attention, “So the stories, they are true. Tiss you that slayed that burden on our lands.” He motioned her closer with his pointer finger.
“The story of the Guardian?”
Adela nodded a confirming yes. Fahim sat back in his throne, looking Adela up and down. He had always found her unusually attractive, but now, she was the very vampire that had taken out the man he despised more than anything on this planet. This fact made her that much more desirable to him. The question was could he finally have this conquest?
“Your personal Guardian?”
“He rather belongs to my great-grandniece.”
“So, it seems that fate has graced your family with a second Guardian.”
There was a deadly silence in the room; even a pin drop would have rung throughout the entire room. He called a servant over to him and whispered something in his ear. The servant left the room as though he was on a dire mission.

He accounts his journeys and meeting of new people to his broad character types in his books.
Book Blurb: While still doubled over, picking up a book, Adela stated with a sultry voice, “One of these days, I am going to make you deliver on all of those promised ideas, running through your head when you watch me.” She had a playful sound to her voice with her smile, telling that fulfilling his dreams was not out of the question.

“This tour sponsored by 4WillsPublishing.wordpress.com“
Hi, there! Today is Day Two on my blog tour. If you missed yesterday’s blog post, you can find it by following the link on my 4WillsPublishing Author Page. Today, I continue to share with you my personal journey, and how I got to be where I am. Yesterday, I talked about the major injury that sparked a complete life change for me. Today, I concentrate more on the writing part of that journey.
It’s been an interesting journey since I published my first novel ‘The Battle for Brisingamen’. One that hasn’t always been easy. I had tremendous fun writing it, but I was also incredibly naïve. I’ve had a lot to learn.
For me, a huge part of being a good writer is to be a good listener. I do my best to take note of feedback and use all criticism constructively. Whilst my first book wasn’t a terrible book, not by a long stretch, it could have been better. Conversely, its first reviews were good ones—four and five stars.
Over time it’s had a couple of three stars as well. Regardless of rating, I’ve always taken note of the comments and have used them to learn and to grow. I have also taken an editing course, which has helped a lot, as well as giving me even more skills at my disposal.
Six months after the first edition was published, I did a major re-edit and I feel it is a much better book for it. I also review for Awesome Indies and The Review Board, as well as offering independent reviews via my website (http://www.harmonykent.co.uk/). I also write a column (All About Indie) for All Author’s Magazine.
So, these days, I’m really quite busy. I write, edit, proofread and review, and write my magazine column. Anything to do with books, basically … which makes me very, very happy. My second book, The Glade, was published in November 2013, and has received a highly positive response so far. Both the cover and the content seem to be a huge success. This second book is a different animal to my first, and is definitely more polished. In July 2014, it received the IndieBRAG Medallion.
I have just published a YA novel, which is to be part of a series. I also have another book in progress, which will see the light of day before the end of the year. I am taking a chance being a multi-genre author, as that means my readers can’t put all my books into one specific category. But then I’m a multi-genre reader and this probably has an effect on what comes out of my imagination. At least I’m doing this right from the start, before anyone has time to pigeon hole me! I don’t want to end up like some famous actors, who have become typecast and just play the same roles over and over again.
Had anyone told me two years ago that I would be a published author—as well as an editor and reviewer—I wouldn’t have believed it possible. Which just goes to show that we can never know what’s around the corner. The important thing is that we keep going. That we never give up.
Links to my tour stops can be found on my 4Wills Author Page.

During her detention, vital evidence goes mysteriously missing and tensions are running high. Helen finds herself surrounded and yet alone: not knowing who she can trust or how she can tell her enemies from her friends. Helen has to work through her self-doubts and fears, in order to know whether her suspicions and misgivings are valid or simply products of an overwrought mind. There are those who would like to encourage her confusion, and those who would help her – but how to know one from the other? And then there are those who actively mean her harm. Meanwhile, malignant forces in the forest are gathering power, ready for a final assault. Helen finds herself in a battle of life and death, and faces having to lose everything in her attempts to thwart the evil that has insinuated itself into her very existence – but is she ready to make the ultimate sacrifice?
This sensational second novel by acclaimed author Harmony Kent will have you alternately laughing, crying and gripping the edge of your seat as this roller coaster ride of a plot unfolds. It will keep you guessing through its many twists and turns, and hijack your attention right up until you turn the final page. This book has it all: murder, intrigue, the supernatural, a broken marriage, a love affair, courage against impossible odds, suspense, and high drama.
The Glade is an Indie B.R.A.G.Medallion honoree!
There is a World not too Far Away …
Beneath the north sea a land of magic lies undetected. The lives of many are drawn inexorably closer together in a race against time, as both energy companies and evil beings attempt to destroy the magic which is protecting not just this land but all worlds. The unwitting protagonists have no idea of how suddenly and irrevocably their lives are about to change.
It is a race against time to try and recover the lost necklace, Brisingamen, which holds the ancient power of the Goddess Freya, and to prevent the undersea drilling from taking place. Are Aart, Matthias, Gemma and Dirck up to the challenges they now must face?
Here there be Dragons, and all manner of Creatures …
Young Adult Fantasy Fiction
“You turned the god of gnomes into a garden ornament?”
Sarah looked closely, but couldn’t tell if her dad was annoyed or amused—perhaps he was both …
Whilst 15 year old Sarah may be struggling to regain her feet, after being ripped from her everyday mundane life and ending up in a whole new dimension, she still knows how to have a bit of fun along the way. The Earth Elemental isn’t the only one whose feathers she manages to ruffle, and it’s only been four days. Meanwhile, her best friend is missing, and big trouble is brewing. She soon has a lot more to worry about than what happened to her phone or iPod, or even how much of an idiot Caleb obviously thinks she is.
Elemental Earth is the first book in The Mysteries series, and is aimed at Young Adults. Even if you’ve already reached an age where the young ones might call you ‘old enough’, if you’re still young at heart then you’re bound to enjoy these books just as much as the next—err—younger adult.
Age aside, perhaps we should be more worried about what further havoc Sarah’s antics might be about to wreak on the universe as we know it? We’d probably all be sleeping a lot more soundly if she’d only stuck to applied maths and the odd pillow fight. But no, sadly the lure of the proverbial rabbit hole proved just a tad too much. And now she’s taken the plunge, there’s no turning back.
